Rumours of fire spark panic among passengers on Chandigarh-bound train

Haridwar, July 24: Panic gripped passengers of Lucknow-Chandigarh Sadbhawana Express near Raisi station in the Laksar area of Haridwar district late last evening after rumours of a fire. The situation became tense as the train came to a halt on a railway bridge over the swollen Banganga river.

Fearing for their safety, the panic-stricken passengers disembarked from the train and crossed the bridge on foot.

As confusion and fear gripped the passengers, the situation was soon brought under control with the intervention of Laksar station superintendent SK Tiwari. It was discovered that the source of the smoke and panic was not a fire but rather someone had pulled the chain, leading to the train's wheels jamming and emitting smoke. The false alarm led to chaos and disruption.

Railway officials also promptly rushed to the scene and assessed the situation. After repairing the train's brakes, which had been affected by the chain pulling, they ensured the safety and functionality of the train. Approximately 30 minutes after the incident, the train was cleared to continue its journey, bringing relief to the passengers.
