Congress' Sachin Pilot meets protesting wrestlers at Jantar Mantar
New Delhi, May 19: Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Friday met the wrestlers protesting against Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at Jantar Mantar and questioned the delay in justice to those who have made the country proud.
The Congress leader arrived in Delhi's Jantar Mantar and discussed the matter in detail with the wrestlers.
Pilot addressed the media after meeting with the protesting wrestlers, criticising the central government and questioning the delay in justice for the protesting wrestlers.
"For the past 27 days, our wrestlers have been sitting in protest to share their pain. Everyone supports them, but the justice which should have been given to them is being delayed." "Why is there a delay in justice for those who made us proud? Administration and police must act swiftly," he added.
"The pain and issues of wrestlers need to be heard and addressed and the government and administration must act swiftly on the grievances of protesting wrestlers and justice should be delivered," he said.
The Congress leader met with wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, and others who were protesting. On their 25th day of protest against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, these wrestlers marched from Jantar Mantar to Bangla Sahib Gurudwara in New Delhi. Punia, Sakshi, Vinesh, and other grapplers joined the march demanding the arrest of the WFI chief accused of sexual harassment of athletes.
