Schoolchildren flung into air in auto-truck collision in Andhra | Check Video
PTC Web Desk: A distressing incident unfolded in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday as a collision between an auto and a truck left at least eight children injured. The entire episode was captured by a nearby shop's CCTV camera.
The unfortunate mishap occurred at 7 am when the children were on their way to Bethany School in auto. In a 35-second CCTV footage, initially depicting light traffic at the Sangam Sarat Theatre junction, a truck approached the crossing beneath a flyover around 7:35 am. At high speed, an auto from the left crashed into the truck as it failed to halt, catapulting the schoolchildren out of the auto upon impact.
The footage also shows the swift response from bystanders: numerous cars and bikes halted immediately, and people rushed to aid the injured. Good Samaritans attempted to move the overturned auto to rescue those trapped underneath it.
Out of the eight children, four have been discharged from the hospital. The condition of one student is stated to be critical, according to police reports.

Senior police officer Srinivasa Rao provided said, "An auto collided with a truck at Sangam Sarat Theatre junction in Visakhapatnam. Eight school children were injured and shifted to the hospital. Four of them have been discharged. Three students are undergoing treatment. One student's situation is critical."
The police said the auto was overloaded, and both vehicle drivers had been detained for questioning. The authorities are also investigating whether the truck was authorised to be in operation during the early hours of the morning.
