PTC News Desk: A search warrant has been issued against celebrity hairstylist Jawed Habib and his son Anos Habib in connection with multi-crore cryptocurrency fraud case in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district.

The duo is accused of defrauding over 100 investors by promising them unusually high returns through investments in Bitcoin and Binance coins under the banner of Follicle Global Company.

A team of Sambhal police officials led by Sub-Inspector Pavitra Parmar arrived at Habib's Delhi residence in New Friend's Colony with a search warrant. However he was not present there.

Superintendent of Police KK Bishnoi confirmed that the police would now move to search Habib’s Mumbai property. “Jawed Habib was not found at his Delhi residence, but the police will now go to his Mumbai address. The team will seize all relevant documents and take all necessary steps to question him,” the SP said.

At least 33 FIRs were issued against Jawed Habib, his son and the company's Sambhal head. Saifullah for allegedly luring investors with a promise of high returns.

Earlier, Habib was summoned to appear for questioning on October 12, however he did not appear. Hid lawyers submitted documents citing health reasons as ground for his absence, to which the police said 'it was not acceptable'.

The police teams have also been directed to conduct rigorous searches across his properties in Delhi and Mumbai. Upon sufficient evidence, the cops are likely to go ahead to charge him under Gangster Act, which results in seizure of property.

SP Bishnoi added that the police are taking “all possible steps” to locate Habib, collect documentary evidence, and ensure justice for the victims.
