Sikh woman denied entry to appear for judicial exam in Rajasthan for wearing kirpan
PTC News Desk: An Amritdhari Sikh woman has alleged that she was denied entry at examination centre in Rajasthan's Jaipur for wearing a Kirpan. The candidate hails from Tarn Taran’s Pheloke village and was supposed to appear for judicial exam.
After being denied entry, candidate Gurpreet Kaur approached the Akal Takht and sent a video message alleging that she was refused entry without any clear explanation regarding the permissible size of the Sri Sahib (kirpan) and Karra (iron bracelet).

Officiating Jathedar, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj shared the video on X, and wrote, "Denying Entry to Amritdhari Candidates in Rajasthan High Court Judge Exam a Major Constitutional Violation & Anti-Sikh Discrimination. Shiromani Akali Dal & SGPC should form a joint delegation & raise matter with GOI & Rajasthan for permanent resolution."
Jathedar Gargaj also directed the chairman of the National Commission for Minorities, Iqbal Singh Lalpura to raise the issue with PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
While refering the Article 25 Explanation I of the Consitution, he asserted that the article clearly enshrines the Sikhs to wear the Kirpan and the move is grave violation of constitution.
Meanwhile he also directed the SGPC consider filing a plea in the Rajasthan High Court in connection with present and past instances to secure judicial remedies safeguarding rights of Amritdhari Sikhs
