Tamil Nadu: Pregnant woman thrown out of moving train as she resisted sexual assault; accused arrested
PTC News Desk: In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman was thrown out of a moving train after she resisted a man's attempt to sexual assault in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore district on Thursday.
The woman identified as Revathi (36) was travelling alone from Tiruppur to Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor on the Coimbatore-Tirupati Intercity Express train.
The victim with an unreserved ticket boarded the train at around 6:40 am and was seated in the ladies' coach where 10 other women were already present. Soon all the women except Revathi de-boarded the train at Jolarpettai Railway Station around 10:15 am.
As the train started moving, the accused, Hemaraj (27), boarded the coach. He sat for a while and when he saw the woman was alone, he attempted to rape her. When the victim resisted by kicking him, he threw her out of the moving train, officials added.
The victim who sustained injuries on her head, arms and legs was immediately rushed to the Vellore Government Hospital for treatment.
Based on the woman's complain, the police has registered a case and arrested accuse.
According to the police officials, this is not the first time accused has committed such crime and is a habitual offender. Earlier also he was arrested under murder and robbery charges.
