Third batch of illegal immigrants from US land in Amritsar, more than 30 Punjabis amongst deportees
PTC News Desk: A US military aircraft carrying a third batch of 112 Indians who were deported from the United States arrived in Amritsar on Sunday night. 7 A US Air Force C-17 Globemaster aircraft touched down at Amritsar International Airport around 10 pm.
This is the third such arrival in last 10 days as part of the crackdown on illegal immigrants by Trump administration.
Of the 112 deported individuals, 44 are from Haryana, 33 from Gujarat, 31 from Punjab, two from Uttar Pradesh, and one each from Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Once all procedures, including immigration, verification, and background checks, are completed, they will be allowed to return to their homes. Authorities have also arranged transportation to their respective locations.
Late on Saturday night, a second US military flight carrying 116 illegal Indian immigrants landed at Amritsar airport. Among the deportees, some men claimed to have been shackled throughout the flight, and there were reports that Sikh youths were allegedly without turbans.
Of the 116 deportees, 65 were from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, eight from Gujarat, and two each from Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, with one each from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
