Tortured, coerced to name PM Modi: Pragya Thakur's bombshell claim in Malegaon blast case

PTC News Desk: In a startling claim, former BJP MP Pragya Thakur has alleged that the investigators coerced her to take the names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and others".

"I have given everything in writing and named all those whom I was forced to name. They kept saying, ‘Name these people then we won’t beat you.’ Their main aim was to torture me," she said.

Thakur was acquitted in the case along with Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit and five others by a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Thursday.

In a massive dig at the UPA government, Pragya Thakur alleged that the Congress was behind the "false case" as part of a larger "conspiracy" to "defame the saffron (Bhagwa) and the armed forces".

Describing it as victory of dharma, Thakur said, "The Congress filed this false case as part of their conspiracy. It had no basis. Congress is anti-religion. It is a party that feeds terrorists. Congress can never become a nationalist party."

The former MP's allegation follows the court’s recent judgment, which revealed that a hostile witness had claimed he was coerced into naming Yogi Adityanath and four others associated with the RSS, including senior leader Indresh Kumar.

Additionally, Mehboob Mujawar, a former member of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), alleged that his superiors had instructed him to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, an order he said he refused to carry out. While the court dismissed these claims, Mujawar reiterated them on Friday, stating that the directive was part of an effort to mislead the investigation and portray it as a case of "saffron terror."

"I was directed by Param Bir Singh, and those above him asked me to arrest these individuals -- Ram Kalsangra, Sandip Dange, Dilip Patidar, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. It was beyond my capacity to arrest someone like Mohan Bhagwat, who holds significant influence in Maharashtra," the officer said.
