Ujjain: 12-year-old sexual assault victim seeks help door to door, 'shooed away'
Ujjain, September 27: In a distressing incident in Ujjain, a 12-year-old girl, partially clothed and bleeding after a sexual assault, sought help by going from door to door. Unfortunately, despite her desperate pleas, she was met with indifference from onlookers, with one man even shooing her away, according to a report in NDTV.
This heart-wrenching situation was captured by a CCTV camera on Badnagar Road, located approximately 15 km from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. The young girl, dressed in tattered clothing, continued her harrowing journey until she reached an ashram. A priest at the ashram suspected sexual violence, promptly covered her with a towel, and rushed her to the district hospital. The subsequent medical examination confirmed the sexual assault.
Due to the severity of her injuries, the girl was immediately taken to Indore for further treatment. During her medical care, police personnel voluntarily donated blood to assist in her recovery. Fortunately, her condition is now reported to be stable.
When a senior police official attempted to inquire about the girl's identity and her place of residence, she struggled to provide coherent answers.
The police have registered a case of sexual assault against unidentified individuals, invoking the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act
Ujjain's police chief Sachin Sharma has formed a special team to swiftly identify and apprehend the perpetrators. He urged the public to come forward with any information they may have.
Regarding the exact location of the crime, he said, "This is under investigation, and we will provide more information soon." He also noted, "The girl was not able to tell us exactly where she is from, but her accent suggests she is from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh."
