US deportation row: Punjab police files fresh six FIRs against travel agents, tally climbs to 8
PTC News Desk: Amid US deportation row, the Punjab police on Monday announced to have registered six fresh FIRs and booked seven immigration travel agents and their accomplices. The case has been registered on the statement of six illegal migrants deported from US.
Earlier two FIRs were registered naming four accused rising the tally of FIR to eight in which 12 accused have been booked. the police haven't made any arrest so far in connection with the case.
Five accused agents, namely Mukesh Munjal, Surjit Singh, Anil Batra, Sumit and Rana, have their offices in Kurukshetra and Karnal in Haryana. Dharminder operates from New Delhi, while the remaining six agents (Manjinder, Gurkirat, Akesh, Mangu, Navdeep Singh and Satnam Singh) operated from Punjab.
Amid registration of FIR, a name of Pakistani agent who operates from Mexico is also being surfaced. The agent has been identified as 'Doctor'.
The SIT headed by ADGP (NRI Affairs) Praveen Sinha, recorded statements of eight out of thirty deportees and subsequent registration of FIR. ADGP (Internal Security) Shive Kumar Verma, IGP (Provisioning) Dr S Boopathi and DIG (Border Range) Satinder Singh are its other members.
