Uttarakhand landslip: Two pilgrims killed, 3 injured in fresh landslide on Kedarnath trek route

PTC Web Desk: A tragic landslide struck the Kedarnath Dham pilgrimage route once again, resulting in the deaths of two pilgrims and injuries to three others. The incident occurred near Pole Number 153 in the Jungle Chatti area, a known stretch along the trek route to the revered Kedarnath temple.

According to the local authorities, rocks and debris suddenly fell from the mountainside, forcing several pilgrims to fall into a gorge while attempting to escape the landslide. Rescue operations are currently underway at the site, with emergency teams working to retrieve the injured and ensure the safety of other pilgrims in the vicinity.

This is not the first incident at this location. On June 15, a similar landslide in the same Jungle Chatti region had temporarily halted the yatra (pilgrimage). Despite previous warnings and recent accidents, including two helicopter crashes earlier this season—one of which claimed seven lives—the Kedarnath Yatra continues to face recurring safety challenges.

Officials are advising pilgrims to remain cautious and follow all safety instructions issued by the authorities, especially during the monsoon season when the risk of landslides significantly increases.
