Uttarakhand: Six dead as helicopter crashes in Uttarkashi; rescue operation underway
PTC Web Desk: A tragic helicopter crash in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district near Ganganani on Thursday claimed the lives of six passengers, including the pilot. The chopper was carrying a total of seven persons when it went down in the border region of Uttarkashi.
According to district disaster management officer Shardul Singh, one person has been rescued. The incident occurred in a remote area, making rescue operations challenging. Emergency response teams, along with local administration officials, are currently at the crash site conducting relief and rescue efforts.
Visuals from the scene reveal the severely mangled wreckage of the helicopter. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.
Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed that as soon as reports of the crash were received, rapid action teams were deployed to the area to provide medical assistance and begin evacuation procedures.
The identity of the victims has not yet been released, and an investigation is expected to be launched to determine what led to the helicopter crash.
