India's ex-RAW official Vikas Yadav who is wanted by the FBI had reportedly been arrested by Delhi police in extortion case.

PTC News Desk: India's ex-RAW official Vikas Yadav who is wanted by the FBI had reportedly been arrested by Delhi police in extortion case. The arrest was made less than three weeks after Vikash Yadav was mentioned by the US Department of Justice documents as “CC-1” (co-conspirator). However he was released on bail in April this year. 

The Delhi Police’s Special Cell arrested Yadav following an FIR filed by a resident of Rohini, who accused him of extortion and kidnapping, as well as having connections to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The complainant, who ran an IT company, had reportedly befriended Yadav, believing him to be a senior government official.


On Friday, Vikash Yadav was named by the DoJ and charged with “murder-for-hire” and money laundering in the alleged Gurpatwant Singh Pannun murder plot.

What are the charges on Vikas Yadav?

Vikas Yadav is the second Indian national to be indicted in the United States in the alleged plot to kill Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. On thursday, the US Justice department charged former Indian intelligence officer for allegedly directing a thwarted plot to murder Sikhs for Justice chief and a US citizen Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. The officer has been identified as Vikas Yadav. Following the indictment, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released a wanted poster for Yadav. 

Hailing from Haryana, Yadav is an Indian national based in India and used "Amanat" as an alias when communicating with his co-conspirator, another Indian national, to facilitate the murder plot, according to the information released on the poster.

Yadav's second alleged co-conspirator Nikhil Gupta was extradited was previously charged and is currently being prosecuted. Gupta was allegedly hired by Vikas Yadav to carry out the murder. The US has accused both Yadav and Gupta for plotting to murder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
