Seth's departure raises concerns amidst unusual circumstances

On January 6, Suchana Seth, aged 39, arrived at a service apartment located in Candolim, northern Goa, accompanied by her son. Surprisingly, two days later, she departed from the establishment unaccompanied, carrying a notably large bag that, disturbingly, concealed her son's dead body.

Despite the more convenient option of a quick 90-minute flight covering nearly 600 km, Ms. Seth had requested the hotel staff to arrange a taxi for her journey. Despite the staff's suggestions advocating for the swifter mode of travel by air, she persisted in her insistence on traveling via road, a decision that raised suspicions given the significant distance and duration involved.

Police capture of Suchana Seth: An account of the arrest operation

In neighbouring Karnataka's Chitradurga district, around 200 km from Bengaluru, Goa Police apprehended Suchana Seth, following a disturbing discovery at the Sol Banyan Grande. Staff found bloodstains while cleaning her hotel room, prompting immediate police intervention. To prevent Seth from becoming suspicious or alarmed, officers conversed with the taxi driver in Konkani, hoping she wouldn't comprehend the language, and directed him discreetly to a nearby police station.

"Hotel staff arranged a taxi for the woman's journey to Bengaluru. Post-checkout, red stains presumed to be blood were spotted during room cleaning, prompting the staff to alert the police." "Police arrived at the hotel and initiated contact through the driver. Queries regarding her son's whereabouts were met with claims he was with a friend, though the provided address turned out to be false."

As the hotel staff swiftly alerted the police, the taxi driver remained composed and cooperated without agitation despite multiple calls from law enforcement. "Upon instructions, the driver calmly drove to a police station where, upon inspecting the luggage, the child's body was discovered. A case has been filed, and the woman has been apprehended," Mr. Valsom concluded.
