Do deserving players get recognition?
Several sports activities across the globe have started after a two-month long coronavirus lockdown, be it Football league or other tournaments. However, such activites haven't resumed in India so far, but there have been discussions about sports in the country. Likewise, India is currently talking about the Sports Awards.
There are national sports federations that recommend their selected players for the prestigious awards such as Padma Shri, Arjuna Award, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Award, Dronacharya Award, Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime achivement award. Indian women's hockey team captain Rani Rampal, has been nominated for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award by Hockey India. Indian men’s hockey team defender Harmanpreet Singh, Indian Women’s Hockey Team Forward Vandana Katariya and Midfielder Monika have been recommended for Arjuna Award.
Meanwhile, Ram Prakash Singh, Sports Director, Uttar Pradesh, has been recommended for Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award. Similarly, Indian boxer Vikas Krishan has been nominated for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.
Meanwhile, it is being questioned that though they are all prominent players and they should be awarded, but does every prominent player gets awarded. There are several players who are prominent but do not receive what they deserve. This has been happening for a long time.

Not only central government but the state governments also present awards to players. In Punjab, the players are awarded with Maharaja Ranjit Singh award, but the players always complained that they were not awarded while they deserved it.

Punjab's basketball player Kuldeep Singh Cheema in a recent conversation with PTC News, said that he did not receive the respect that he deserved.
