In a bizarre incident, New Zealand MP Julie Anne Genter on Sunday cycled herself to the hospital while she was in labour and gave birth an hour later. "I genuinely wasn't planning to cycle in labour, but it did end up happening," said Julie Anne Genter on Facebook after the delivery.

“Big news!” the Greens politician wrote on her Facebook page a few hours later, announcing the birth of her child. “At 3.04 am this morning we welcomed the newest member of our family. I genuinely wasn’t planning to cycle in labour, but it did end up happening.”
New Zealand Member of Parliament Julie Anne Genter said her contractions "weren't that bad" when she and her husband decided to cycle together. The politician had posted a photo of the couple in the hospital car park.

This is not the first time that she has done this. In August 2018, she took a similar trip and made global headlines.

She has been an outspoken supporter of cycling. The Green party's spokesperson for transport has posted several pictures on her Facebook handle with her beloved cycle. Her bio says - "Green MP. I love my bicycle."
