New Delhi/Sonepat, October 19: Following NIA raids and searches of houses/establishments connected with leaders and members of organised criminal networks across five states on Tuesday, the investigating agency arrested two people- a Sonepat resident and a Delhi lawyer. The agency has arrested Rajesh alias Raju Mota, a resident of Basaudi in the Sonepat district of Haryana. As per the information received, he has a criminal background and has multiple criminal cases registered against him. According to NIA officials, Raju Mota and his associates have been running an illegal liquor mafia network in Sonepat and neighbouring areas. He works with Sandeep aka Kala Jathedi, a notorious Haryana gangster. Raju Mota has also invested large sums of money in the liquor business that he obtained illegally.

According to NIA officials, Asif was in touch with gangsters, both inside and outside the jail and was actively assisting them in carrying out several criminal and illegal activities. On Tuesday morning, four weapons and a few pistols (in semi-knocked-down condition), as well as ammo, were recovered from his home. During searches, the NIA has in total seized five pistols/revolvers along with ammo, which includes a cache of 4 pistols from the residence of advocate Asif Khan, North East Delhi.
