Petrol and Diesel Price today: Petrol prices cut across India for first time after 35 days
Petrol and Diesel Price today: After 35 days, the petrol prices were reduced by 15 to 20 paise per litre while the diesel rates were declined by 18 to 20 paise across the country.
With the recent decline in petrol and diesel price today, petrol in Delhi is being sold at Rs 101.64 per litre while diesel is being retailed at Rs 89.07 per litre.

In Mumbai, the petrol per litre and diesel per litre were Rs 107.66 per litre and Rs 96.64 per litre, respectively. Mumbai, was the first metro city in India, where the petrol prices breached the Rs 100 mark.

In Chennai, the petrol prices have been reduced to Rs Rs 99.32 per litre while diesel is retailing at Rs 93.66 per litre. The petrol prices were also reduced in Chennai by Rs 3, as per recent announcement by the DMK government.

Even though the petrol and diesel price witnessed a decline on August 22, the fuel rates were soaring at an all-time high across the country.
Petrol and diesel price vary from state to state on the basis of value-added tax (VAT) and freight charges. Rajasthan levies the highest VAT in India, followed by Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
