Champai Soren to float new political party, says doors open for alliance
PTC News Desk: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren stated on Wednesday his plan to form a new political party amid rising tensions inside the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
"I had mentioned three options: retirement, organisation, and friend. I will not retire; instead, I will strengthen the party, create a new party, and if I find a good friend along the way, I will join them," Champai Soren told reporters, leaving the door open for future alliances.
When asked if he has little time left to launch a new party before the state goes to the polls, Soren responded, "That's not your problem."
"When 30,000-40,000 workers can arrive in a day, what problem will I have in forming a new (political party)?" he said, claiming that the party would be founded within a week.
Champai Soren's plans to start a new political party come after a period of "bitter humiliation" while serving as Jharkhand chief minister. Just days before this announcement, Soren expressed dissatisfaction with the JMM leadership, particularly after his government programs were abruptly cancelled by party leaders without his knowledge.
He claimed he kept quiet because he was not hungry for power, but his self-respect was harmed. "After so much humiliation, I was forced to look for an alternative path," Champai Soren said.
