Lok Sabha Polls 2024: Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 encompassing both the general elections to elect members of the 18th Lok Sabha and assembly elections to select members of the Rajya Sabha, state legislative assemblies, panchayats, and urban local bodies is all set to take place in April-May this year, there are sparking renewed speculation about a possible alliance between TDP and NDA. 

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu recently engaged in discussions with Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda which sparked speculations that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is likely to join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh, with its 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats, has garnered attention as the BJP expresses interest in competing for eight to ten parliamentary constituencies. However, in the event of a potential alliance, the BJP may consider contesting five to six Lok Sabha seats, with the Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena Party (JSP) vying for three seats and the TDP retaining the rest.

The TDP which was part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance till 2018, evinced interest in reviving the alliance after suffering crushing defeat in 2019 elections.

There has been talk of a triparty alliance between the regional parties and BJP for some time.
Actor Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena Party, which has been a member of the NDA, has already joined hands with the TDP.

The state has 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats.

Elections for Lok Sabha is expected to be held in April-May.

The ruling party is eyeing a third term under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has set a target for winning 370 seats on its own and 400 with allies.
