'ED, CBI, I-T campaign for BJP': Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge in poll-bound Rajasthan
PTC News Desk: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday of misusing central agencies, claiming that he often sends the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax Department, and Central Bureau of Investigation to campaign for the BJP ahead of his speeches in election-bound states.
He also accused the BJP of looting the country while speaking at a rally in poll-bound Rajasthan's Jodhpur.
"They send the ED, Income Tax, and the CBI to campaign before Prime Minister Narendra Modi goes to places to give speeches... you can see what they're doing with Congress people. They accuse us of looting the country, but it is you who do so," he said.
He was most likely referring to recent ED searches at locations associated with state Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasara. His two sons have been summoned for questioning by the agency. It had also summoned CM Ashok Gehlot's son, Vaibhav Gehlot.
In an apparent dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge stated, "Only talks will not solve anything...There should be food, jobs, and schools ...Nothing will happen in the country by slogans and good speeches."
Kharge accused the BJP of harassing Congress leaders and said it should allow them to work.
He stated that PM Modi thinks about the poor during the election period. He claimed that under his rule, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. He claimed that Prime Minister Modi helps the country's rich while seeking votes from the poor.
He also referred to the agencies as "jawans" of Prime Minister Modi.
"These people are after us, let them be. They will stay behind and we will move forward," Kharge further said.
