Huge setback to Congress as 400 workers quit party in Rajasthan
PTC News Desk: In a major setback for the Rajasthan Congress, nearly 400 party members resigned from their primary membership on Friday. The Congress has formed an alliance with the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) for the Nagaur Lok Sabha seat, leaving it open for the RLP.
The Congress fielded Nagaur MP and RLP Chief Hanuman Beniwal from the seat.
Meanwhile, three Congress workers were suspended for six years on Monday for allegedly campaigning for BJP candidate Jyoti Mirdha in Nagaur, according to a complaint filed by Beniwal.

Following the suspension of these Congress leaders - former MLA Bhararam, Kuchera Municipality Chairperson Tejpal Mirdha, and Sukharam Dodwadiya - there was outrage among Congress workers in Nagaur.
The three Congress leaders resigned their party membership in protest of the suspension.
Tejpal Mirdha, meanwhile, held a press conference on Friday and stated, "Congress was in a strong position in Nagaur during the Assembly elections. It won four out of the eight seats. It maintained a strong position in the Lok Sabha Elections as well. Despite this, why did the alliance form with the RLP?"
"Hanuman Beniwal is a tool attempting to destroy the Congress in Nagaur. Congress workers were shocked by the formation of an alliance with such a person. That is why we are all submitting our collective resignation letter," he explained.
"The Congress high command formed an alliance with the RLP against the wishes of the local Congress state unit. This alliance has been imposed upon us. RLP had worked to defeat Congress throughout the district. We never shared a stage with the BJP. Nonetheless, Beniwal expelled us from the party. The Congress issued a Tughlaqi decree and expelled us without providing any information or show cause notice," he stated.
