Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 60.97 pc voter turnout recorded so far in Phase 3, Assam records highest

The voter turnout of 60.97 percent has been recorded across the 11 States/Union Territories in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, as per the latest data issued by the Election Commission of India. Assam reported the highest voter turnout (75.01%), while Maharashtra had the lowest (53.95%).

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 60.97 pc voter turnout recorded so far in Phase 3, Assam records highest

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The voter turnout of 60.97 percent has been recorded across the 11 States/Union Territories in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, as per the latest data issued by the Election Commission of India. Assam reported the highest voter turnout (75.01%), while Maharashtra had the lowest (53.95%).

According to the data, the voting percentages for other states participating in the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls are as follows: Bihar -- 56.55 percent, Chhattisgarh -- 66.94 percent, Goa -- 74.00 percent, Gujarat -- 56.21 percent, Karnataka -- 66.80 percent, Madhya Pradesh -- 62.79 percent, Uttar Pradesh -- 57.04 percent, and West Bengal -- 73.93 percent.


According to the most recent data, voter participation in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu was 65.23 per cent.

More than 1300 candidates are competing in this phase and 120 of them are women. This phase allows 17.24 crore voters to exercise their franchise at 1.85 lakh voting places.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former Madhya Pradesh chief ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Digvijaya Singh, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Samajwadi Party leader Dimple Yadav, and NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule were among the prominent leaders who contested today's election.

The Lok Sabha elections are taking place across seven phases, from April 19 to June 1 with counting scheduled for June 4.
