Lok Sabha Elections 2024 | Congress releases another list of 16 candidates for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. 

As per the list released, Vikramaditya Singh to contest from Mandi (against BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut) and Manish Tewari to contest from Chandigarh.


Manish Tewari is an Indian lawyer and politician associated with the Indian National Congress. He is currently a Member of Parliament representing Anandpur Sahib in the current 17th Lok Sabha.

Manish Tewari Political Career

  • Manish Tewari held prominent positions within the Indian National Congress, serving as the president of the National Students Union of India from 1988 to 1993 and the Indian Youth Congress from 1998 to 2000. 
  • Despite losing the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, he emerged victorious in the 2009 elections, securing a significant margin of over 100,000 votes.
  • Tewari served as the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and is a practicing advocate in the Supreme Court of India and various high courts.
  • He has actively advocated for bringing intelligence agencies under parliamentary oversight.
  • In 2014, due to health reasons, he withdrew from contesting parliamentary elections from Ludhiana and was replaced by Ravneet Singh Bittu.
  • Manish Tewari was a speaker at Bridge India's webinar on "India's foreign policy: Taking stock at the end of Year One

Notably, the Lok Sabha elections will take place in seven phases, with voters across the country going to the polls on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1.

The election for 543 Lok Sabha seats in the country will be held in seven phases starting April 19
