PTC Web Desk: In a historic turn of events, Mohan Majhi will be the first BJP Chief Minister of Odisha, marking the end of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief Naveen Patnaik's 24-year tenure. This change in leadership comes after a significant defeat for the BJD in the recent State Assembly elections. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida will be Deputy CMs. The BJP won 78 of 147 seats in the Odisha Assembly.

Notably, he is a four-time MLA and a strong tribal voice in Odisha. He is well-known for his organisational skills. Mohan Majhi was the youngest of the frontrunners for the post. He had won from the Keonjhar seat this year by a margin of 11,577 votes.

The selection of the new Chief Minister was finalised at the BJP legislature party meeting, which was attended by Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Bhupender Yadav, who served as observers. This momentous decision marks a new era in Odisha's political landscape, as the BJP takes the reins from a long-standing administration.

Mohan Majhi's appointment is seen as a significant milestone for the BJP in Odisha, reflecting the party's growing influence and the electorate's desire for change.
