Mohan Charan Majhi takes oath as Odisha CM; here's all about BJP's first Odisha CM
PTC Web Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived at Janata Maidan to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed from Raj Bhavan for Janata Maidan to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Odisha CM-designate Mohan Charan Majhi. Mohan Charan Majhi, a four-time MLA and senior BJP leader, takes oath as Odisha's new chief minister on Wednesday. KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida will be his Deputies.
The first legislature party meeting of Odisha's newly elected members was held on June 11, and Majhi was elected as the Legislative party leader in the presence of senior BJP leaders and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Bhupender Yadav.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend Majhi's swearing-in ceremony. After attending Chandrababu Naidu's swearing-in ceremony, Modi is expected to leave for Bhubaneswar around 12:45 p.m. He is expected to arrive at the Bhubaneswar Airport around 2:30 p.m. and then proceed to Raj Bhavan.
Union ministers and chief ministers from BJP-ruled states are also expected to attend Majhi's oath ceremony. The BJP has also invited former Odisha Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik to the oath-taking ceremony. Aside from VVIPs, approximately 30,000 people are expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony.
