Punjab Vigilance Bureau gets prosecution sanction against ex-minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot

Chandigarh, December 6: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Tuesday got sanction from the administrative department of the Punjab Government against former Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot to prosecute him in the competent court. He was arrested by the VB in June for his involvement in organised corruption pertaining to the issuance of permits for cutting of Khair trees, transfer of officials, purchases, and issuance of NOCs etc in the department.

A  spokesperson for the Punjab Vigilance Bureau said a corruption case under FIR No. 7 (dated June 6, 2022) under Section 7, 7-A 13 (A)(1) (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and Section 120-B of the IPC was registered at VB police station flying squad, SAS Nagar. This case was registered against former forest ministers, contractors and officials of forest department for indulging in corrupt activities.

Notably, a corruption case against Congress leaders and former Punjab forest ministers Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and Sangat Singh Gilzian was registered following revelations by a district forest officer (DFO) and a private contractor . They were arrested earlier by the Vigilance Bureau in a corruption case.
