‘Gen Z will stop vote theft’: Rahul Gandhi; BJP warns of Nepal-style fallout

PTC Web Desk:  Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has sharpened his allegations of large-scale voter deletion, claiming he has “100% proof” of a conspiracy to manipulate the electoral process. Addressing a fresh press conference in his ongoing “vote theft” series, Rahul Gandhi asserted that the youth of India – especially Generation Z – would play a decisive role in safeguarding democracy and the Constitution.

“The nation’s youth, the nation’s students, the nation’s Gen Z, will defend the Constitution, protect democracy, and stop vote theft. I always stand with them. Jai Hind!” he posted on social media platform X after his press briefing.

The remarks came shortly after youth-led protests in Nepal forced a political upheaval there, a parallel Rahul Gandhi appeared to draw while rallying India’s younger generation.

BJP’s Counterattack

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swiftly countered the Congress leader’s claims, with party MP Nishikant Dubey launching a scathing attack on social media. In a pointed reference to the Gandhi family’s political lineage, Dubey wrote: “Gen Z is against family politics. Why would they tolerate Rahul Ji after Nehru Ji, Indira Ji, Rajiv Ji, Sonia Ji? They are against corruption, why wouldn’t they chase you away? Get ready to leave the country, they are coming.”

On Friday, Dubey expanded on his criticism, telling ANI that Gen Z in India had already been instrumental in movements such as the 2011 anti-corruption protests led by Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal, as well as the mass demonstrations following the 2012 Nirbhaya case. He argued that Rahul Gandhi’s attempt to link himself to Nepal’s protests was misplaced.

“The Gen Z in Nepal opposed nepotism and corruption. In Bangladesh, they wanted an Islamic state, while in Nepal they demanded a Hindu Rashtra. India is a secular nation, but if Gen Z demands a Hindu Rashtra, what will Rahul Gandhi do then?” Dubey asked.

He further accused the Congress of decades of “Parivarvaad” (dynastic politics) and corruption, alleging that Rahul Gandhi was trying to provoke unrest. “Not just Congress, but its allies are also dynastic parties. Rahul Gandhi wants to instigate civil war in India. The BJP stands with the Gen Z, while the Congress will be forced to flee,” Dubey claimed.
