Rahul Gandhi, the 'best finisher' in politics like Dhoni in cricket: Rajnath Singh

PTC News Desk: Drawing parallels between cricket and politics, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh acclaimed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as the "best finisher" in Indian politics, akin to MS Dhoni's prowess as a finisher in cricket.

Speaking at an election rally in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district, Singh remarked, "I sometimes wonder why this is happening, and I reach this conclusion. Who is the best finisher in cricket? (After the crowd said) Dhoni. If anyone asks me who is the best finisher in Indian politics, I will say it is Rahul Gandhi. This is the reason why several leaders have left Congress."

Singh accused the Congress of having an "unbreakable" relationship with corruption, asserting that while corruption allegations have plagued most Congress governments, no such charges have been leveled against any minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration.

Furthermore, he highlighted the diminishing presence of the Congress in Indian politics, once a dominant force now ruling only two or three small states. Regarding the proposal for 'One-nation, one-election', Singh extended complete support, emphasizing its potential to save time and resources. He refuted Congress's objections to the proposed law, contending that simultaneous elections would strengthen Indian democracy, suggesting elections twice in five years for local bodies, assemblies, and the Lok Sabha.

Emphasising the government's focus on bolstering the Indian economy, Singh referenced predictions from major financial firms forecasting India's rise to the top three economies globally by 2027. He attributed this progress to PM Modi's leadership, which elevated India to the top five economies from the 11th spot a decade ago. Singh contrasted the BJP's track record of fulfilling promises with what he perceived as unmet pledges by the Congress during their tenure. He underscored the BJP's commitment to nation-building over politics for appeasement.

Addressing security concerns, Singh emphasised India's desire for good relations with Pakistan but asserted readiness to respond to provocations, highlighting India's resolve demonstrated over the past decade. In summary, Singh's remarks underscored a juxtaposition of cricketing and political prowess while outlining the BJP's vision for governance and security concerns.
