Sachin Pilot joins CWC amidst Kharge's reshaping of Congress central leadership
Jaipur, August 20: In a momentous turn of events, Congress stalwart Sachin Pilot, who has been expressing differing opinions within the party and maintaining a strained relationship with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, has been welcomed into the Congress Working Committee on Sunday.
In anticipation of the forthcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections, scheduled later this year, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge orchestrated significant modifications within the Congress Working Committee on Sunday.
Beyond the inclusion of Sachin Pilot in the central leadership of the party, notable figures such as Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Shashi Tharoor, Jairam Ramesh, Naseer Hussain, Alka Lamba, Supriya Srinate, Praniti Shinde, Pawan Khera, Ganesh Godiyal, and Yashomati Thakur have also secured positions on the panel.

The strategic move to integrate Sachin Pilot into the core of the party's leadership could be part of the Congress's broader tactic to avert any internal discord with Chief Minister Gehlot as the crucial state elections approach.

Meanwhile, on the previous day, Chief Minister Gehlot confidently asserted that the Congress would emerge victorious with a substantial majority in the impending Assembly elections later this year.
A conclave of Rajasthan's Congress leaders convened, attended by the party's State Unit President Govind Singh Dotasara, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot, and the party's State In-Charge, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, in Jaipur.
Following the meeting, Gehlot conveyed to the media, "The Congress is poised for a resounding mandate. The electorate is resolute in reinstating us to power in Rajasthan."
He further disclosed that the party is actively progressing with its election preparations.
On August 17, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled the constitution of the state's election manifesto committee and the Rajasthan election management committee.
Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Arjun Ram Meghwal was appointed as the chairperson of the BJP's state manifesto committee, accompanied by co-conveners Lal Meena, Alka Gurjar, Ravi Rajendra Singh, Subhash Maurya, Prabhu Lal Saini, and Rakhi Rathore.
In the 2018 elections, the Congress secured 99 seats while the BJP clinched 73 seats out of the 200-member legislative assembly. Forming the government with the support of Independent candidates and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Congress, under the leadership of Ashok Gehlot, took the reins of governance.
