‘Sheeshmahal’ row flares up again: BJP alleges Kejriwal got luxury bungalow in Chandigarh, AAP calls claim baseless

PTC Web Desk: The political tussle between the BJP and the AAP has intensified once again, as the BJP has revived its “Sheeshmahal” controversy, this time extending beyond Delhi to Chandigarh. The saffron party alleged that AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has been allotted a lavish two-acre government bungalow in Chandigarh’s upscale Sector 2 area.

Sharing what it claimed to be an aerial image of the property, the Delhi BJP unit accused Kejriwal of enjoying “seven-star luxury” at taxpayers’ expense. “The man who posed as a common man now lives in another grand Sheeshmahal. After vacating the Delhi residence, Punjab’s Super CM Arvind Kejriwal has moved into an even more luxurious bungalow in Chandigarh,” the BJP wrote on X.

The party further alleged that Arvind Kejriwal used a Punjab government helicopter from the premises to Ambala and then boarded a state aircraft to Gujarat for party-related work. “The entire Punjab Government seems to be working for one man,” the BJP post added.

Responding sharply, the AAP dismissed the BJP’s allegations as “completely false and politically motivated.” The party questioned, “Where is the allotment letter?” and said the property in question was not Kejriwal’s residence but the Chief Minister’s official camp office.

The AAP accused the BJP of “spreading misinformation” ever since the Prime Minister’s “fake Yamuna story” was exposed. “From fake Yamuna claims to fake pollution and rainfall data, and now a fake 7-star house story, everything is fabricated,” AAP said in a statement.

The renewed confrontation adds to the growing list of disputes between the two parties, which have recently clashed over Delhi’s air quality crisis, the cloud seeding experiment, Yamuna river cleanliness, and Chhath Puja arrangements.
