Chandigarh, August 13: The contractual employees of PUNBUS, PRTC have upheld the call for a 3-day strike over the regularisation issue.

The development comes after several unsuccessful meetings between unions of employees and the Transport Minister and the Transport Secretary.

A strike will be observed outside PRTC head office on August 14, 15 and 16. Furthermore, the staffers will also protest on August 15 as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will hoist the national flag.

The employees claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the Punjab elections 2022 made tall claims of fulfilling promises made to staffers if voted to power. However, the department is even having difficulty making payroll for the contractual employees, and nothing is being done to regularise them.

Further details are awaited.
