Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath catches fire near Sirhind, three AC coaches gutted; miraculous escape for passengers
PTC News Desk: A fire broke out on the Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath near Sirhind railway station in Punjab, around 7:30 am on Saturday, officials said. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.
Soon after detecting the smoke in one of the AC coaches, railway officials swiftly swung into action and evacuated the passengers to other coaches. The affected coaches were then detached from the train to prevent further damage. The train remains stationary near Sirhind railway station as investigations and safety checks continue.
The exact cause of fire has not been ascertained yet, however the train is expected to proceed towards its destination Saharsa following rigorous safety checks.
