Bomb threat emails target DC offices in Punjab; police on high alert
PTC Web Desk: Security agencies in Punjab were put on high alert on Friday after bomb threat emails were sent to the District Collector (DC) offices in Gurdaspur and Muktsar. Following the threats, both government complexes were immediately evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Heavy police deployment was rushed to the spot and the entire office premises were sealed to prevent any untoward incident. Bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs were pressed into action to search for any possible explosive devices within the buildings.

According to initial findings, the threatening email was reportedly sent in the name of a Pakistani-based organisation, ISKP. However, senior officials have refrained from making any official statement on the authenticity of the claim so far.
Police sources said the email was detected at around 9.30 am, prompting swift action by the district administration and security agencies. Authorities have stated that a formal briefing will be issued only after the investigation is completed.
This incident comes close on the heels of a series of similar threats across the state. Earlier, schools in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala had received bomb threats, followed by warnings targeting court complexes in Ludhiana and other cities. In all previous cases, extensive searches were conducted but no explosive material was found.
Security agencies continue to investigate the origin of the emails while maintaining heightened vigilance across sensitive locations in Punjab.
