Chandigarh Police issue traffic advisory ahead of Rajnath Singh's May 8 visit

Chandigarh, May 7: Ahead of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's visit to Chandigarh on Monday, a traffic advisory has been issued. Citizens have been urged to not use certain routes in the city from 8 am to 1 pm Monday, according to the advisory.

The Union Minister, who will arrive in Chandigarh around 10.30 am Monday, is slated to inaugurate the Indian Air Force Heritage Centre in Sector 18. Singh will later reach Panchkula to inaugurate a gaushala.


Traffic, according to the issued advisory, would be diverted/restricted on Dakshin Marg at Airport Light Point, Hallo Majra Light Point, Poultry Farm Chowk, Tribune Chowk, Iron Market Light Point, New Labour Chowk (Sector 20/21-33/34), Madhya Marg at AP Chowk (Sector 7/8-18/19), Press Light Point (Sector 8/9-17/18) and Matka Chowk (Sector 9/10-16/17) including 17/18 Light Point and Gurudwara Sector 8 turn.

People are urged to follow the Chandigarh Traffic Police on social media for real-time traffic information.

The traffic police have asked invitees, officers, and reporters to park their vehicles only in the designated parking lots of the programme locations.
