Farmers Protest live updates: Farmers on Wednesday retorted to rail roko agitation across Punjab owing to the ongoing protest. The activists of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha blocked rail traffic from 12 noon to 3 pm.
Farm leader Sarwan Singh Pandher had urged people for maximum participation in the agitation. Meanwhile, commuters bore the brunt as trains were halted while several others were cancelled due to the 'rail roko agitation'.
The agitation was intended to ramp up the pressure on central government to engage in meaningful dialogue on their demands after their multiple attempts to enter the national capital were thwarted by Haryana police citing lack of permission from central authorities.
Pandher further urged the central government to take 'immediate' action and engage with the farmers' representatives in a 'meaningful' dialogue.
Meanwhile jagjit Singh Dallewal's health is constantly deteriorating as his hunger strike enters 23rd day with risk of multiple organ failure. According to the doctors, on the heels of being a cancer patient, it is not advisable for him to stay hungry which is further worsening his health.
