Former Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar's judicial custody extended by 14 days in bribery case
PTC Web Desk: The judicial custody of former DIG of Punjab Police, Harcharan Singh Bhullar, who was arrested in a bribery case, has been extended by 14 days. He appeared before the CBI court via video conferencing on Friday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did not seek his further remand in connection with allegations of accepting a Rs 5 lakh bribe from a businessman based in Mandi Gobindgarh. Following this, the CBI court extended his judicial custody for another 14 days. Bhullar is now scheduled to appear before the court again on November 14.
Meanwhile, the CBI has already taken middleman Krishanu Sharda on remand in the same case. Sources said further questioning of Bhullar would be conducted after completing Krishanu’s interrogation.
The CBI continues to probe Bhullar’s alleged links with businessmen and police officials, as part of its investigation into possible corruption networks and accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income.
