Jalandhar police seize 10 kg of heroin, arrest four more drug traffickers from Ferozepur
PTC Web Desk: In a major breakthrough, Jalandhar City Police's CIA staff has arrested four drug traffickers from Ferozepur, recovering approximately 10 kg of heroin from their possession. This operation is linked to an earlier arrest made in the posh Green Park area of Jalandhar, where the police apprehended a notorious drug dealer with 1 kg of heroin and around Rs 4 lakh in drug money.
Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav said the accused were being interrogated by the CIA staff in Jalandhar City. According to sources, the drugs were being smuggled across the border. The police are now investigating the accused’s connections with cross-border drug traffickers.
On September 9, the police had arrested Chhinda Singh, a notorious drug trafficker from Bhangowala village in Ferozepur. Based on his interrogation, the police arrested four more persons from Ferozepur—Harjinder Pal Singh, Veer Singh, Surmukh Singh, and Malook Singh—on Sunday.
During preliminary interrogation, 10 kg of heroin were seized from the accused, adding to the 1 kg of heroin recovered earlier on September 9 from the Green Model Town area. So far, the total heroin recovery in the case stands at 11 kg.
Notably, the CIA staff had received intelligence regarding the movement of Chhinda Singh in the area. Acting on this information, the police laid a trap and arrested the accused, seizing 1 kg of heroin and Rs 4 lakh in cash during the operation.
The police registered a case against the accused at Police Station Division No. 6 (Model Town) and have since launched further investigations into the drug trafficking network.
