    According to the media reports, the CBI conducted a raid at a five-star hotel in Chandigarh, where OP Rana, the reader of a senior Vigilance officer, and middleman Raghav Goyal were allegedly negotiating a deal with a complainant.

PTC News Desk: Days after major action by the Enforcement Directorate, now the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at the Punjab Vigilance Bureau office in Mohali late Monday night, uncovering a major corruption bid. The central agency detained a reader of a senior officer over alleged involvement in corrupt practices. 


No official confirmation regarding the arrests has been made yet, however senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia claimed on X that the central agency “recovered Rs 13 lakh from a vigilance official in a Rs 20 lakh bribery scandal”

Meanwhile, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has issued its first official statement in the matter. 

"A spokesperson for the bureau said that a private individual has been detained by the CBI and the investigation is ongoing. The spokesperson added that if the name of any officer or employee of the bureau emerges during the investigation, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau will fully cooperate with the CBI and allow the law to take its course," the statement read.

According to the media reports, the CBI conducted a raid at a five-star hotel in Chandigarh, where middleman Raghav Goyal and his father were allegedly negotiating a deal with a complainant.

The deal was reportedly worth Rs 25 lakh, but the person had arrived with Rs 13 lakh, which was recovered. A CBI official stated that Raghav Goyal has been arrested. He is a resident of Malout in Muktsar district and is said to be close to the Vigilance officer. According to CBI officials, an FIR has been registered against reader OP Rana and Raghav Goyal under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PC Act).
