Kalka-New Delhi Shatabdi horror: Passengers report injuries while boarding as train departs before time from Chandigarh Station
PTC News Desk: Several passengers reported injuries while boarding Kalka-New Delhi Shatabdi train from Chandigarh Railway Station alleging that the train departed early despite arriving late.
As per reports and accounts shared by travellers, the train halted only briefly after its delayed arrival.
Taking cognisance of the incident involving the Kalka–Delhi Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12006) at Chandigarh railway station, the Government Railway Police (GRP) have registered a case of attempted murder against the loco pilot.
The loco pilot is accused of staring the train before the scheduled time, without permission or any announcement triggering panic among passengers. Several passengers also fell while boarding the train and sustained injuries.
The incident occurred at around 7 am, when many passengers were still boarding the train and the loco pilot suddenly moved it forward. The sudden stopping and starting of the train caused passengers to lose their balance. Several people, including women and elderly passengers, fell on the platform. It is reported that around 20 to 40 passengers were injured in the incident.
Chandigarh GRP officials said that based on a complaint by passenger Surender Bhardwaj, a case has been registered against the loco pilot under Sections 109, 125, 198, 199, 281, 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 154 of the Railways Act. Police have taken possession of CCTV footage from the station and started the investigation. Passengers who were on the train will also be questioned soon.
