Law and order collapses in Punjab: Amritsar doctor shot at inside hospital after extortion threats
PTC Web Desk: In a shocking incident on Friday, a doctor was shot at point-blank range inside his hospital in Sudhar village, Ajnala, Amritsar. The attackers, posing as patients, entered the premises under the pretext of seeking medicine before opening fire without warning.
The victim, identified as Dr Kulwinder Singh, sustained three bullet injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Amritsar. His condition remains critical, according to medical reports.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack is linked to ongoing extortion threats the doctor had been receiving. Sources revealed that the same group had earlier fired shots outside his hospital demanding money. CCTV footage from the facility shows two assailants entering and suddenly pulling out pistols before firing multiple rounds.
The police said a case had been registered and search operations were underway to track down the shooters.
