Masked robbers loot jewellery shop in Punjab's Jalandhar, ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh stolen
PTC News Desk: In a shocking case of robbery, a gang of thieved broke into a jewellery shop in Punjab's Jalandhar in the early hours of Sunday and carried out the robbery, stealing ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh.
Several masked men carried out the entire heist in just 10 minutes and fled the scene. The incident took place in Jalandhar's Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar at Babbar Jewellers, located on Street Number 6 and was caught on the CCTV.
The incident came to light in the morning when people in the nearby market noticed the broken shutter of the shop and informed the owner and the police. Soon after receiving information a team of police officials reached the spot and launched investigation into the case.
At present, police are trying to identify and trace the thieves based on the CCTV footage. The shop owner said the burglars made away with gold and silver jewellery worth approximately ₹40 to ₹50 lakh. After breaking into the shop, the thieves targeted the safe and the counters, stealing valuable gold and silver ornaments.
Police officials said the matter is being taken seriously and expressed confidence that the accused will be arrested soon with the help of CCTV footage and technical evidence. Footage from cameras installed in nearby areas is also being examined.
A case has been registered against unknown miscreants, and further investigation is underway.
