One killed, five injured in multi-vehicle collision on Ludhiana highway
PTC News Desk: In a tragic incident, one person was killed and several others got injured after multiple vehicles crashed on the highway at Ajnaud village near Doraha in Ludhiana district due to poor visibility on Sunday morning.
The situation could have been far more disastrous had the LPG cylinders being transported by one of the trucks involved in the pile-up caught fire. While the exact circumstances of the accident and the identities of those affected were still being verified, sources said a car driver lost his life while attempting to pull a gas cylinder out from beneath his vehicle. He was struck by another vehicle while standing near his car.
A rescue operation was carried out by the police under the leadership of Sukhdev Singh, with assistance from the Sadak Suraksha Force.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the truck carrying LPG cylinders had to brake abruptly after the car ahead slowed down. The incident escalated when a truck loaded with cement bags rammed into vehicles in front, triggering a chain reaction as vehicles behind also collided with one another.
