Patiala: School bus falls into drain, 20 students rescued safely near Nabha
PTC Web Desk: A major accident was reported in Patiala on Monday morning as schools reopened after the break. A private school bus carrying around 20 students slipped and overturned into a drain near Nabha, close to village Kakrala on the Kakrala–Duladi road.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when the bus driver tried to give way to an oncoming vehicle. In an attempt to move aside, the bus lost balance and skidded into the drain. Locals and passersby rushed to the spot, broke the window panes, and managed to rescue all the children safely.
Though most students escaped unhurt, a few sustained minor injuries and received immediate medical attention. Police personnel and school staff also reached the site soon after receiving information and assisted in the rescue efforts.
Parents, who rushed to the spot in panic, expressed relief on finding their children safe but also vented anger against the school authorities and bus operators. They alleged negligence, pointing out that many private school buses run without proper safety checks and ignore traffic regulations.
Villagers and parents have urged the administration to conduct regular inspections of private school buses and strictly enforce safety norms to prevent such incidents in the future.
