Punjab: 2 men wanted in murder case arrested from Amritsar after being deported from US
PTC News Desk: Two men were arrested in Amritsar shortly after they were deported from the United States on Saturday in connection with a murder case. The second batch of deportees aboard US C-17 aircraft landed at Amritsar airport.
A team led by the SHO of Rajpura police station was sent to the Amritsar airport on Saturday to arrest the two.
Two accused identified as Sandeep Singh and Pradeep Singh are residents of Patiala district who were wanted in a murder case registered in 2023, SSP Nanak Singh said while confirming their arrest from the Amritsar airport.
Meanwhile, their criminal records in the US surfaced, prompting Patiala Police to take them into custody. The officials have initiated legal proceedings aginst both the men.
Earlier a US military aircraft carrying second batch of 116 illegal immigrats landed at Amritsar airport. The second batch consist of 119 deportees amongst which 67 are from Punjab, 33 from Haryana while 8 belong to Gujarat. Three deportees are from Uttar Pradesh and 2 each from Rajasthan and Maharashtra while 1 each from Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
