Punjab businessman kidnapped for ransom, shot at; probe on
PTC News Desk: Unidentified individuals allegedly abducted and shot at a textile company businessman in Punjab's Ludhiana, the police said.
They also took the businessman's car and demanded a ransom from his family.
"The incident took place late on Friday night. The businessman identified as Sambhav Jain was kidnapped from Laddu Colony under police station Basti Jodhewal area at around 8.15 pm," Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Sumit Sood said.
The miscreants demanded a ransom from the victim's family after kidnapping him. The victim's family, on the other hand, called the cops.
When the accused realized the police were following them, he shot the victim in the thigh, left him near Vishwakarma Chowk Road in the city, and fled, according to the official.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital after the police found him.
The ACP also stated that a team of police officers is working on various theories related to the case.
"We have registered a case against the unidentified individuals and have started a hunt for the absconding accused," ACP added.
"The accused will be arrested soon, we will take stringent action against them. We also visited the injured businessman in the hospital where he is currently being operated on."
