Punjab Cabinet minister Sanjeev Arora hospitalised after breathing trouble
PTC Web Desk: Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora was rushed to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, late Thursday evening after experiencing difficulty in breathing following dinner. According to hospital sources, he has been admitted under critical care unit (CCU) observation. Doctors have stated that while his condition is currently stable, a team of specialists is closely monitoring him.
Medical tests are being conducted to determine the cause of his sudden respiratory distress. The hospital management has not issued any official statement yet regarding his health.
Following the formation of the AAP government in Punjab, Sanjeev Arora was elected as a Rajya Sabha member in April 2022. He served in the Upper House from April 10, 2022, to July 1, 2025. Prior to his political career, he was better known as a prominent industrialist.
In February 2025, Arora was fielded by AAP as a candidate for the Ludhiana West Assembly byelection, which became vacant after the demise of former MLA Gurpreet Gogoi. He won the seat in June 2025.
After winning the byelection, he resigned from the Rajya Sabha on July 1, 2025, and was sworn in as a Punjab Cabinet Minister on July 3, 2025. Initially, he was assigned key portfolios such as Industries, Commerce, and Investment Promotion. Later, in August 2025, Arora was given Power (Electricity) Department, and a minor reshuffle in January 2026 added the Local Government Department to his responsibilities. Today, he oversees multiple critical departments, making him one of the most influential ministers in the Cabinet.
