PTC Web Desk: In a major breakthrough, the Mansa police have arrested both suspects involved in the recent firing incident that took place in Mansa city within 72 hours of the crime. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhagirath Singh Meena informed during a press conference that both accused, identified as Gurusahib Singh and Ramanpreet Singh, residents of Ropar district, have been taken into custody.

According to SSP Meena, the incident occurred on October 28 around 4 pm, when two youths riding a motorcycle opened fire at Shakti Trading, a local shop in Mansa. After the firing, the duo met with an accident nearby but managed to escape by firing shots when locals tried to apprehend them. The accused then abandoned their motorcycle and fled the scene.

Police teams obtained CCTV footage from the area and circulated alerts across Punjab to identify the culprits. The investigation revealed that after committing the crime, the accused fled Mansa district in a cab from Maisar Khana to Kharar. Acting on a tip-off, the police tracked and arrested both suspects on Chakerian Road in Mansa.

During interrogation, Gurusahib Singh disclosed that one firearm used in the crime was hidden near a drain in the Bhikhi area. When the police took him for weapon recovery, he suddenly fired at the team with a loaded weapon. The police retaliated, and Gurusahib Singh was injured in the exchange. He was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.

The SSP added that the motorcycle and weapon used in the crime have been recovered, and both suspects are being questioned to determine their motive and any possible links with other criminal networks.

Appreciating the police personnel involved in the operation, SSP Meena said that recommendations for commendation will be sent for those who played a vital role in the arrests. He also announced that Jagir Singh, an elderly local who courageously confronted the accused during the incident, will be honoured for his bravery.
