Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav empaneled for DG post at Centre, only officer from Punjab cadre

The development also paves way for solidifying Yadav's appointment as Punjab director general of police.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav empaneled for DG post at Centre, only officer from Punjab cadre

PTC News Desk: Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav has been empaneled to hold position of director general at Central police of agency. Notably, Yadav is the only officer from 1992 batch of Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre officers.


The development also paves way for solidifying Yadav's appointment as Punjab director general of police. 

The appointments committee of the cabinet (ACC) on Monday approved the empanelment of five IPS officers for holding the top positions in central armed police forces (CAPF), central bureau of investigation (CBI), national investigation agency (NIA), research and analysis wing (RAW), which function under the control of the Union government.

Besides Gaurav Yadav, other officers empaneled for holding DG and DG equivalent posts at the central level are Nuzhat Hassan (IPS: 1991: AGMUT) and Gaurav Yadav (IPS: 1992: PB), while those empanelled for holding DG equivalent posts are Ch. D. Tirumala Rao (IPS: 1989: AP), Aditya Misra (IPS: 1989: UP) and Idashisha Nongrang (IPS: 1992: MN).

Gaurav Yadav is set to retire on April 30, 2029.

The central government is yet to empanel four IPS officers who are senior to Yadav: Sanjeev Kalra and Parag Jain, both from the 1989 batch, and Sharad Satya Chauhan and Harpreet Singh Sidhu, both from the 1992 batch.
