Punjab doctors revise strike schedule; normal operations in OPDs to resume after 11 am
PTC Web Desk: Punjab doctors have revised their strike schedule, now limiting the protest hours from 8 am to 11 am. Following the strike, normal operations in the Outpatient Departments (OPDs) at government hospitals will resume, with doctors returning to treat patients.
A key meeting with government officials is scheduled for late Saturday evening, after which the doctors will decide on the future course of action based on the outcome of the discussions.
At Ludhiana Civil Hospital, despite the strike, doctors were seen attending to patients in the OPD, ensuring minimal disruption to healthcare services. The adjustment in strike hours is aimed at balancing their protest while maintaining essential medical care for the public.
The doctors are demanding the reinstatement of the Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme, which guarantees financial benefits and higher pay scales for government employees. Additionally, they are calling for improved security measures for healthcare workers, timely recruitment of Medical Officers (MOs), and the release of pending arrears from the Central Pay Commission (CPC).
